Our Story
From a Prayer Meeting to a Movement of Faith
MC Church began on Christmas Day 1993 when Brother Freddy Shembo, a French-speaking student new to Charlotte, NC, gathered a small group for Bible study. What started as a prayer group soon evolved into a church, following repeated prophetic confirmations.
Despite humble beginnings and limited resources, the church grew in both spirit and numbers. In 1996, with only $150 in the bank, the congregation miraculously purchased a property on The Plaza Rd. Through collective effort and faith, members renovated the space, eventually constructing a 400-seat sanctuary by 2001.
Today, MC Church serves as a spiritual bridge between French-speaking believers and the wider Charlotte community.

We are a praying church

Senior Pastors
Freddy and Beatrice Shembo
Freddy and Beatrice Shembo are the founders and Senior Pastors of Mont Carmel Church. In 1993 Freddy got the call to plant a church in Charlotte NC. And in 1994 Mont Carmel Church was birthed, since then it has impacted so many lives.
As an in-demand pastor, he travels around the world sharing the Gospel of Christ in many countries throughout the Americas, Europe and Africa. A Former lawyer, he delivers the word with humor and serves God with the motto "Raising the standards of excellence".
Pastor Beatrice also known as "Pastor B" by her church family has made a huge impact on women across the world, known for her spiritual purity and uncompromised walk with God. A dynamic preacher, she encourages people to serve with dignity and discipline.

Patrice Shingu
Pastor Patrice Shingu is driven by one burning desire: To make Jesus known. To this end, he is committed to proclaiming the gospel worldwide in the power of the Holy Spirit to make Jesus Christ real to all. He's a graduate of the Christ for All Nations Evangelism Bootcamp in Orlando, Florida and is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte.
He is married to lady Youyou and together they have 4 children: Chris, Joshua, Jesse and Samantha.
